The Cancer Patient started as a meme page on instagram in October 2018 and eventually evolved into a multifaceted social media community for cancer support and advocacy. It was created by a 2-time lymphoma survivor who was diagnosed at 24 years old. After going through cancer treatment for almost 2 years, it became evident to the creator that social media support and community for cancer patients is beneficial for healing and recovery. Fueled with humor, compassion and an insatiable need to pay it forward, The Cancer Patient, which was once “just a meme page,” metastasized it’s way through the minds and hearts of thousands of cancer patients from all over the world. The Cancer Patient creator has been in remission since 2016 and works full time as a clinical research nurse in Chicago, IL. This social media community is solely run by one person and with your help and support can hopefully extend its reach and continue to build the community that we know and love.
